Rev. Mark Huff

Pastor

Rev. Mark L Huff, the youngest of two children, grew up in Kentucky, and graduated from Georgetown College in 2002 with a B.S. degree in Finance. Upon graduation he moved to Cincinnati, OH where he worked for Huntington Bank as a construction loan specialist, in retail operations for Peoples Community Bank, and finally for the Cincinnati Financial Corporation as a financial institution analyst and risk underwriter. In 2011, after several years of prayer and discernment, he moved to St. Louis, MO to study for the pastorate at Concordia Seminary. Upon graduation in 2015 with a Master of Divinity degree, he was sent to Port Huron by the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod to serve as pastor of Faith Lutheran.

In 2005 he married Elizabeth (nee Pfennig), a Cincinnati native, who currently works as a Disney Travel agent. They have two young children at home, Lillian and Maggie. Rev. Huff is an avid reader of pretty much anything he can get his hands on and recently developed an interest in vinyl records. While he loves traveling, he’s just as content spending a quiet weekend at home working in the yard and being with the three lovely ladies in his life.

Sean Burke

Deacon of Family Life

Deacon Sean Burke grew up in Beaver Township just north of Auburn, Michigan. He was the second of four boys in a family of six. Sean graduated Saginaw Valley State University in 1998 with a B.A. degree in English and History. Since graduation, his careers have included restaurant management, sales of fine wine and spirits, and manufacturing production supervisor. In 2011, Sean became a member of Faith Lutheran Port Huron and in 2012 enrolled in the Michigan District’s Deacon and Ministry Assistant program. In 2019 he commenced as a credentialed deacon of the Michigan District LCMS. In March 2023, Deacon Sean joined the staff at Faith Lutheran full-time, assuming the role of Deacon of Family Life Ministries.

Sean is the father of two adult sons, Ethan and Aiden. His interests include outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, and hunting. He is an amateur gourmet with a love for good food and he’s also a bit of a wine and spirits connoisseur. When at home, if he’s not cooking, Sean can often be found relaxing in the backyard enjoying a quiet campfire or on the beach taking in our beautiful Lake Huron.

Lori Gaffney

Church Secretary

Lori joined our church staff in February 2022. She has lived in the Emmett area for most of her life. Together with Leo, her husband of more than 26 years, and their son Markus, they raise All Natural Angus Beef on their farm. She feels grateful and blessed to be a part of our Faith Lutheran family.

Jeremy Jones

Choir Director

Jeremy Jones is grateful and excited to join Faith's church family as Choir Director. A classically trained pianist and longtime church musician, Jeremy has served as both a pianist and organist and has a particular love for the great tradition of Christian sacred music. His musical interests are broad, but he especially enjoys the works of Bach, Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, the historic hymn tradition of the Church, and sacred choral music. For Jeremy, playing and directing music in the church brings together two things that are especially important to him—his Christian faith and his lifelong love of music.

Outside of music, Jeremy works in higher education and enjoys spending time with his family and studying history, literature, science, and theology. Additional interests include staying physically active and following the Detroit Lions and Tigers. As he begins this new role, he is especially looking forward to getting to know the Faith family and working with the choir. He hopes to build upon the church’s musical traditions, encourage both experienced and new singers to participate, and help keep music an integral part of the congregation’s worship life. Above all, Jeremy views the role of a church musician as one of service: supporting the congregation’s song, proclaiming the Gospel through music, and helping direct hearts and minds toward Christ. He is thankful for the opportunity to serve and looks forward to making a joyful noise together!
